Returning home from Falklands 1982 and the ship is certainly showing her age. It is a fact that a ships working life can be displayed in her side, especially now that hulls are welded over box sections. Heavy weather will actually dent these box sections, giving the ship a sort of rippled effect. If one looks closely at the hull below the bridge superstructure, there appears a scar, which was actually a hull penetration during the second Cod War. Notice no Pennant or Squadron number, a matter of course for service in a potential War zone |
